Some days I think I should settle
Put down my roots and think less like a rebel
White picket fences keep out the devils
But what if it keeps me from the next level?
No, I want to know
I want to seek out the unknown
The ebb and flow
It tosses me to newer globes
Where I'm alone
Ears are open, mouth is closed
It truly shows
That I am someone with a mind
A true design
A lonely spirit with a spine,
A little time
To find a purpose that is mine
Before I die
It's all I ever want to find
I have to try
But it's such a tangled web we weave
Looking for a home
But something inside tells me to leave
I feel the life every time I breathe
A newer air than the one I received
Me, I want to be
Someone who can truly lead
In time of need
A perfect universal key
It's time that we
Find the strength to just believe
Do we agree?
That this has gone on far too long
A classic con
To be treated like a pawn
The rich and wrong
Just continue to get strong
While stepping on
The light and length of our new dawn
And now it's gone
And so it comes to this; a tipping point
An entire generation landing on a broken joint
Born without stability or a dollar to our names
Left us in the wake, so we chase fortune, we chase fame
Our needs won't be ignored, ignorantly pushed aside
No, not anymore today we start the fight
Got a lighter in my grip, and gas surrounds my feet
I'll set the world on fire with the knowledge to redeem
We can save the world from the evil and the heartless
I've only got one shot then I'm aiming at the darkness
The future can't be written with the hands of the past
We've seen it all before, we need something that will last
It starts with a conversation
And ends in a revelation
Musically this feels more experimental for La Dispute reminding me of their Here, Hear releases. Very atmospheric and easy to lose your self in. Perfect for the next time you’re contemplating your existence. (Also found out the guitarist builds his own pedals and used them on this record; neato!) Mikey
